Upin & Ipin console games to be launched in september

KUALA LUMPUR: After 19 years of building the popularity of the Upin & Ipin animation series, the local animation production company, Les' Copaque Productions Sdn Bhd, is set to launch Upin & Ipin console games in September this year.

Les' Copaque Productions Sdn Bhd managing director, Burhanuddin Md Radzi, said that the paid games, developed since last year, will be launched through several gaming consoles which will be announced later.

He added that his company has invested RM15 million in the production of the game, which was developed by an international company based in Malaysia.

"In addition to Malaysia, our target audience is certainly in Indonesia, which has a large fan base for this animation series. It is another success for our company through Upin & Ipin," he told Bernama.

He is also happy that the animation series continues to hold a place in Indonesia, as its daily viewing period of five hours through the MNCTV channel in the country has now been extended to nine hours a day.

He said that this achievement is yet another success for the company, which was established in 2005 and has since garnered numerous awards through the Upin & Ipin series, which was produced in 2007.

Burhanuddin said that every year, a total of 42 new Upin & Ipin animation series are aired in the country, and his company profits from advertisements broadcast during these screenings.

He is confident that the construction of the 'Upin & Ipin Theme Park' in Alor Gajah, Melaka, if realised, would attract tourists from both within and outside the country in the future, especially from Indonesia.

The international theme park, planned to be built on a 55.85-hectare land and costing RM700 million, is expected to open gradually around 2026 to 2027.

Upin & Ipin have received various awards so far, including the Unity Film award at the 'Hari Seniman Kebangsaan' celebrations in 2023 through the animated film Upin & Ipin: Keris Siamang Tunggal.

Upin & Ipin also maintained their victory at the Child Friendly Broadcasting Awards (APRA) 2021 in the Foreign Animation category, held in Jakarta, Indonesia on Nov 27, 2021. – BERNAMA
