M'sian Prabagaran executed in Singapore by hanging

KUALA LUMPUR: A 29-year old Malaysian convicted in 2014 of drug trafficking in Singapore was executed this morning.

S. Prabagaran's eleventh-hour bid to halt his execution was rejected by the Singapore's Court of Appeal yesterday.

The non-governmental organisation (NGO) We Believe In Second Chances confirmed that the execution had taken place via its Facebook page.

"Rest in Peace, Prabagaran a/l Srivijayan," the post says.

The NGO also thanked lawyers "who have fought for Praba over the years, as well as to everyone who sent their thoughts, prayers, and wishes to the family during the difficult time.”

It is learned that Prabagaran, who hailed from Johor, was hung to death at the Changi Prison at 6am.

In April 2012, Prabagaran was arrested at the Woodlands checkpoint when authorities found him in possession of 22.24 grams of heroin hidden in his car.
