Young candidates will help BN win Selangor

SHAH ALAM: The line-up of young Barisan Nasional candidates fielded to contest in Selangor will help the coalition regain the state in 14th General Election.

Sungai Panjang candidate Datuk Imran Tamrin said he is confident BN will win in the Sungai Besar parliament constituency and state seats.

Budiman Mohd Zohdi is currently Sungai Panjang assemblyman.

“Budiman (who has been fielded to contest Sungai Besar parliamentary seat) is an exemplary leader and one of the best candidates in Selangor.

“This will be a challenge to me, but I am confident I will be able to lead and continue his (Budiman’s) legacy in serving the people here.

“Besides, Budiman was my mentor when I first set foot in the political scene. I was groomed to become a leader under his guidance,” Imran said.

The 31-year-old lawyer further said despite not being a seasoned politician, he would contribute his best and carry out his responsibilities to serve the public.

“I come from a middle-income earning family. My father was a farmer and mother a housewife.

“Sungai Panjang is were I grew up and studied. Hence, I am very much familiar with the place. In fact I have never stayed far from my kampung (village).

“I have also worked with Budiman after GE13, carrying out social works and helping the residents in our constituency,” he added.

Meanwhile, MCA has placed architect Lee Yee Yuan, 28, a local candidate in Sekinchan state seat.

Although Lee would be competing against a three-term incumbent DAP Ng Suee Lim, he is confident that he would be able to bring positive changes to the area.

“We have worked hard and all we have to do now is maintain the momentum. We will then have no problem in winning and returning Sekinchan to BN.

“As a young candidate, I am able to understand the concerns and issues faced by the youth in the Sekinchan state assembly and I will assist them in any way possible.

“People want to see change because they have not seen any changes in the past 15 years, especially the youths who are looking for job opportunities.”

Imran and Lee are among the young candidates fielded to contest in Selangor for GE14.

Other young candidates are Rizam Ismail (37), Kang Meng Fuat (36), Chan Wun Hoong (39), Leong Kim Soon (40), Chang Toong Who (40), Ho Kwok Xheng (29), Teoh Kah Yeong (38), and Shahril Sufian Hamdan (32).
