#Showbiz: 'Nur' makes a killing at Anugerah DFKL 2019

PUTRAJAYA: Nur, the tale of a compassionate and unconventional religious teacher who guides a prostitute back to the right path, monopolised the awards at the Anugerah Drama Festival Kuala Lumpur 2019 tonight.

It took home all but four of the 10 award categories including Choice Drama, Choice Actor for Syafiq Kyle, Choice Director and Script for Shahrulezad Mohamadin, Choice Screen Couple for Amyra Rosli and Syafiq and Choice Antagonist for Azhan Rani.

The awards’ ambassador Janna Nick won Choice Actress for Semerah Cinta Humairah, playing a woman who is forced into an unhappy marriage.

“Nur has been truly phenomenal. Last year we won Best Drama, Actor and Actress at the Anugerah Skrin. Here’s hoping Nur 2 which is now airing on TV will be just as successful,” said Shahrulezad.

Haqiem Rusli’s and Aman Ra’s duet Jatuh Bangun from the drama Shah & Zam won Choice Theme Song and My Sensei Nyonya won Choice Chinese Drama Series.

Orang Kita, which revolves around social media addiction and directed by Mohamad Edzuan, won Choice Short Drama.

The annual awards was held at the Putrajaya International Convention Centre (PICC) and broadcast live on TV3 at 9pm.

Media Prima Television Networks chief executive officer Johan Ishak said the drama festival was continuously growing not only in terms of new winners but also its discovery of talented new actors and actresses through its workshops.

Hosting the two-hour awards show was Awal Ashaari while Amyra, Remy Ishak, Izzue Islam, Fatin Afifah, Datuk Fizz Fairuz, Hannah Delisha, Zara Zya, Naim Daniel, Edika Yusuf and Rozita Che Wan presented the award categories.
