Shafee turns up in court to assist Hisyam in Najib's final SRC appeal

PUTRAJAYA: The Federal Court hearing Datuk Seri Najib Razak's main appeal has just been informed that his longtime counsel Tan Sri Muhammad Shafee Abdullah would be assisting in the case after all.

Najib's newly appointed counsel Hisyam Teh Poh Teik informed Chief Justice Tun Tengku Maimun Tuan Mat that Shafee would be assisting him in the appeal.

Tengku Maimun: I thought he had been discharged?

Hisyam: I persuaded him (to assist).

Tengku Maimun then ordered Hisyam to continue before Shafee walked in shortly after.

Najib had previously discharged Shafee in his final SRC International appeal and appointed Hisyam as his lead counsel.

Shafee had all the while represented the former prime minister in the SRC case right from the time he was charged.
