2024 Budget is a huge boost for humanising education, says Fadhlina

KANGAR: The RM58.7 billion allocation for Education Ministry under the 2024 Budget is a huge boost for humanising the education agenda in the country.

Its minister Fadhlina Sidek said she viewed the overall budget presentation from two perspectives.

"Alhamdulilah, the Education Ministry is still the one with the largest allocation at RM58.7 billion.

"We believe this is our crusade in championing efforts in humanising education. Firstly, it concerns access to education as the government is allocating a budget to build 26 new schools.

"This is the biggest allocation for school construction ever approved for the Education Ministry," she told reporters after attending the ministry's Fit Malaysia programme in conjunction with the National Sports Day 2023 at the Tuanku Syed Putra Sports Complex here today.

Fadhlina also expressed her utmost gratitude for the allocation to build 18 new blocks for special needs education.

"The construction of the 18 blocks for special needs students is very much required. Alhamdulilah, what is more important from the policy point of view is the milestone of our future education," she said.

Present were Perlis Menteri Besar Mohd Shukri Ramli, state secretary Datuk Yusran Mohd Yusof and state Youth and Sports Committee chairman Muhammad Azmir Azizan.

Fadhlina added the ministry is committed to ensure all agenda in the budget will be efficiently executed.

In the 2024 Budget tabled by Prime Minister and Finance Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim in Parliament yesterday, the Education Ministry obtained the biggest chunk of allocation with RM58.7 billion, including RM1.9 billion for school upgrading and maintenance.
