Motorist angry for being asked to pay for using public parking

A MOTORIST is angry when he was approached by a man who told him he needed to pay a fee for parking in front of a building in Taman Tun Dr Ismail, Kuala Lumpur.

He said the parking space, which is in Jalan Burhanuddin Helmi, was painted in yellow, which means it is a public parking space.

Reserve parking spaces are painted in red. He urged City Hall to take action against those deceiving the public to make money.

ACTIONLINE:

When contacted, a City Hall spokesman said enforcement officers would be sent there to look into the issue.

“We will have to check if this is happening.

“If it is a public road, no one can collect fees from motorists who park in designated parking lots.”

He said motorist should pay only at parking meters available.

He said this problem had been happening in the city centre and the culprits were now targeting residential areas.

“If the culprits are caught red-handed, they will be taken to the City Hall office for interrogation.

“They will later be sent to the City Hall court.”
