Sarikei set to enjoy new public park for community recreation

SARIKEI: Sarikei in Sarawak is poised to enhance its community infrastructure with the addition of a new public park, aiming to attract city dwellers to engage in recreational activities, Sarawak Public Communications Unit reported.

Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability deputy minister and Sarikei member of parliament Andrew Wong Pak Ung officiated the Chinese New Year 2024 Decoration Ceremony on Tuesday.

This event marked the beginning of the transformation of the area located on Jalan Nenas into a focal point for relaxation and leisure.

The forthcoming park is designed to celebrate the diversity of Sarawak's community, featuring pavilions that reflect the architectural styles of the Malay, Chinese, and Iban communities, representing the three major ethnic groups in the region.

It will also be equipped with a variety of children's playground equipment, offering a family-friendly environment, the report said.

It is also understood that the park's decorations will shift to mirror the various festive themes celebrated throughout the year in Sarawak, adding a dynamic cultural element to the space.
