KUALA LUMPUR: The Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) has been urged to take action against a telecommunications company for allegedly installing a telecommunications transmission system on a lamp post in Federal Hill here.
Bukit Bandaraya Residents’ Association adviser Datuk Mumtaz Ali said it had been months since the telecommunications transmission system was installed in Jalan Negeri Sembilan, Federal Hill.
“We believe the structure (telecommunications transmission system) was built not only without an application, but also without the approval of the mayor.
“The authority must act immediately to remove the structure and charge the company responsible for this at court.
“It is a shame that the local council has to wait for the telecommunications company to submit its plan to regularise it.”

A DBKL spokesman said investigations revealed that the lamp post was part of a telecommunications structure erected illegally on reserved land.
He said the offence fell under Section 70(13)(d) of the Street, Drainage and Building Act 1974, which required the responsible telecommunications company to remove the structure within seven days of notice.
He said the company would be liable to a maximum fine of RM250 for each day the structure remained erected after the expiration of the seven-day period.
“Should the company fail to comply with the notice, the mayor can take action to remove the structure and the company will be required to indemnify the mayor.”
