Irked by monkeys and stray dogs

A RESIDENT of Section 24, in Shah Alam, claims his complaints about wild monkeys and stray dogs in the area have fallen on deaf ears.

Ahmad Afiq Zakaria said he had lodged several reports with the Shah Alam Municipal Council.

“But the number of wild monkeys and stray dogs in the area appears to be increasing,” he said. He claimed a monkey had even entered his house.

“Action needs to be taken before anything untoward happens.”

ACTIONLINE:

A Wildlife and National Parks Department (Perhilitan) spokesman said complaints about wild animals should be made at the district offices.

“The department will respond within 24 hours of receiving a complaint,” the spokesman said.

For monkeys, traps will be set, and the captured primates relocated.

A Shah Alam Municipal Council (MBSA) spokesman said a team would be sent to the area to catch the stray dogs.

The spokesman urged dog owners to apply for licences for their pets.
