Senheng offers discounts via Seamless 4U campaign

KUALA LUMPUR: Senheng Electric (KL) Sdn Bhd, in celebrating its 28th anniversary, launched “Seamless 4U” campaign, offering discount and cash rebates on select electrical household goods.

The company, which started “Seamless 4U” on September 1 and will last until November 30 this year, will reward its customers for their support over the years.

“It’s Senheng’s anniversary and we want to reward our customers with special offers, cash rebates and opportunity for Maybank credit cardholders to win gifts from a contest we’re running,” said Senheng founder and managing director Lim Kim Heng.

In a recent interview, here, with NST Business and Harian Metro, Lim said the retail outlook towards the year-end is expected to improve as consumers tend to shop more during the festive season from Deepavali to Christmas and school holidays.

“I think our company is set to achieve a double-digit growth for the recent and upcoming years as we want to improve our business model for consumer convenience,” said Lim.

He said Senheng is digitally transforming itself to give consumers seamless experiences.

“We’re seeing an online-to-offline (or O2O) revolution. In order to survive we need to redefine traditional in-store shopping.

“We want to simplify and personalise the shopping experience for our customers. We want consumers to continue seeing our products in stores in-person, while also being able to order and pay for them via their smartphones or iPad,” he said.

The “New Retail” concept is the latest innovation by Alibaba, China’s biggest e-commerce company, which integrates e-commerce, storage and logistics.

Alibaba founder and chairman Jack Ma coined the term “New Retail” in a letter to Alibaba’s shareholders in October 2016.

Ma said, “pure e-commerce will be reduced to a traditional business and replaced by the concept of New Retail ― the integration of online, offline, logistics and data across a single value chain."

"We believe this is very much how next-generation commerce will look globally, with large retailers and niche category specialists leveraging technology to provide an integrated service, with the consumer at its core,” Ma reportedly said.

Senheng Group is Malaysia’s market leader in the retail of household electrical goods from plasma television to microwave ovens.

Lim said his team had been investing a few million ringgit into building the information technology infrastructure and human capacity development to work towards a seamless blend of online and offline retail experience for consumers.

“We aim to provide a more efficient shopping and seamless experience for our consumers,” he said, while demonstrating to reporters easy usage of Senheng’s app on his smartphone that incorporates the interactive QuickChat function.

“Ultimately, we want to scale up deliveries, with each store being able to fulfill thousands of orders a day,” Lim added.

Senheng has a retail network of 121 outlets nationwide and employs 1,800 staff.

In embracing seamless shopping experiences for consumers, the group will further reduce its store count while boosting its digitisation and logistics capacity.
