BCM Alliance supplies 24 beds to MoH

KUALA LUMPUR: BCM Alliance Bhd (BCM), through its wholly-owned subsidiary, Best Contact (M) Sdn Bhd (BCSB), has mobilised its resources to help meet the urgent need for hospital beds among public healthcare providers that are battling the Covid-19 outbreak.

Over the past two weeks, BCM has supplied a total of 24 intensive care unit (ICU) beds to the Ministry of Health, to address the shortages due to the increased patient traffic.

BCM managing director Liaw Chong Lin said hospitals are in dire need of medical beds and other equipment, such as nebulisers, thermometers and other personal protective equipment (PPE), as they confront the Covid-19 outbreak.

"Fortunately, we have immediate supplies of quality medical beds that can be delivered quickly to areas with the greatest need.

"Our team has worked timelessly to deliver and install the beds in the respective hospitals," he said in a statement today.

Liaw said since the outbreak of Covid-19 in Malaysia, the company had increased orders to the suppliers.

“We continue to employ every effort to ensure that these beds reach those in need as quickly as possible,” Liaw said.

“We recognise that the global pandemic has created a need for urgent action by the Malaysian government, business, communities and citizen.

"We will do our part to use our know-how, resources, and leadership as a Company to assist our communities and our country during this period of national emergency," he said.

On the other hand, BCM also sees a spike in demand for its products from the healthcare products division Cypress Medic Sdn Bhd, its 51.03 per cent-owned entity.

The products include thermometers and nebulisers.

“We believe Covid-19 pandemic has triggered a seismic wave of health awareness, and thus, having accurate self-check on personal health condition is essential to maintain healthy standards at all time.

“We expect Cypress Medic to be benefited from this new demand for healthcare products, apart from the increased expenditure in public and private healthcare sectors,” Liaw said.

He is confident that the new product orders will further enhance Cypress Medic’s revenue and in turn, result in a higher top-line contribution to the group for the financial year of 2020.
