Amir Hamzah steps down from boards of Sime Darby Plantation and MRCB

KUALA LUMPUR: Datuk Seri Amir Hamzah Azizan has stepped down from the board of directors of two listed companies, Sime Darby Plantation Bhd and Malaysian Resources Corp Bhd (MRCB), following his appointment as Finance Minister II on Tuesday, Dec 12, 2023.

Amir Hamzah, who was the Employees Provident Fund's (EPF) chief executive officer prior to his appointment to the Cabinet, was a nominee director of the EPF for both of the companies.

EPF owns a 36 per cent interest in MRCB and a 14.8 per cent interest in Sime Darby Plantation.

Amir Hamzah was non-independent non-executive chairman of MRCB and a non-independent non-executive director of Sime Darby Plantation.

MRCB has appointed Datuk Mohamad Nasir Ab Latif as acting chairman  of the company with the departure of Amir Hamzah.
