Samaiden's unit receives Seda feed-in-tariff approval for 7MW biomass power plant

KUALA LUMPUR: Renewable energy (RE) company Samaiden Group Bhd's unit has received feed-in tariff (FiT) approval from the Sustainable Energy Development Authority (Seda) Malaysia for a 7 mega watt (MW) biomass power plant in Johor.

Samaiden is a RE specialist involved in engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning (EPCC) of solar photovoltaic (PV) systems and power plants.

The approval, in a letter dated Jan 22, 2024, authorises Samaiden Biomass Energy Sdn Bhd to construct and operate a biomass power plant with an installed capacity of 7 MW.

The plant is set to supply a net export capacity of 6.0 MW to Tenaga Nasional Bhd, over a period of 22 years from Jan 22, 2027.

The biomass power plant, destined for Kampung Tanjong Batu 15 in Tangkak, Johor, represents a strategic expansion of Samaiden's portfolio in RE.

This new development not only strengthens Samaiden's commitment to sustainable energy production but also aligns with Malaysia's broader goals for environmental sustainability and energy diversification.
