TM to offer e-prescriptions through e-Pharmacy Solution

CYBERJAYA: Telekom Malaysia Bhd (TM), through its Unifi Business segment, has introduced e-Pharmacy Solution, which allows for e-prescriptions from over 500 licensed health care professionals.

This innovative mobile application facilitates e-prescriptions via teleconsultation for pharmacists and their walk-in patients.

In collaboration with Teleme Technologies, Malaysia's leading telemedicine platform, TM said this offering is bundled with Unifi Business' fixed broadband plans ranging from 100 Megabit per second (Mbps) up to 2 gigabits per second (Gbps).

It said the e-Pharmacy Solution provides access to over 500 licensed healthcare professionals for teleconsultation services.

"Additionally, it offers e-prescriptions, customized digital signatures, health articles, and serves as a repository for patients' medical records," it said.

Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil said the e-Pharmacy Solutions aims to accelerate the digitalization of healthcare service providers, especially the micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs).

"This is a continuation of the collaboration between the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) and the Malaysian Pharmaceutical Society (MPS) during the PEDi MADANI Conference held in November 2023," he said at the official launch here, today.

Meanwhile, Fahmi said this offering is also eligible for the government's Geran Digital PMKS Madani (GDPM), ensuring pharmacists from MSME receive the support they need to embrace digitalisation and enable a more inclusive healthcare system for all Malaysians.

He said pharmacies and health centers that qualify have the opportunity to receive up to a 50 per cent Digital PMKS MADANI (GDPM) grant rebate for connectivity services and e-Pharmacy solutions."I understand that this package or grant is worth RM 5,000 and can be utilized, and the subscription period is until the end of the year or until all allocated funds are fully utilized.

"So, we urge and welcome pharmacists to take advantage of and benefit from the grant provided. This is the Madani SME grant so that they can provide better and easier services to their customers," he said.

TM group chief executive officer Amar Huzaimi Md Deris said the e-Pharmacy Solution will empower pharmacists to provide quality healthcare services and medications to walk-in patients through teleconsultations and access to licensed medical professionals.

By integrating connectivity and technologies into patient care, Amar said the e-Pharmacy Solution aims to support healthcare professionals and the government in providing efficient and beneficial services for all Malaysians, especially among communities where healthcare access remains a challenge.

"This new offering also reflects TM's continuous efforts towards becoming a Digital Powerhouse by 2030, leading industry growth through digitalisation and sustainability, and strengthening our digital ecosystem to benefit communities and businesses," he added.  Ends
