PKNPk streamlining utility infrastructure, job creations for Perak

KUALA LUMPUR: Newly-launched Darul Ridzuan Utility Corridor Sdn Bhd (KUDR) will facilitate utility companies' efforts  to provide infrastructure such as electricity, water, gas, telecommunications and sewerage systems in a planned manner in Perak.

Perak Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad said this joint initiative of Perak State Development Corp (PKNPk) and local investors does not involve financial injections from the state government.

KUDR, which will be a one stop agency for utility management, is a subsidiary of PKNPk.

The latter has been mandated as the coordinating agency for the state utility corridor to manage the application, development, maintenance and relocation procedures for utilities on existing roads (brownfield) and new roads (greenfield).

KUDR is responsible for handling all processes related to the development of utility infrastructure, from permit applications to preparation of utility mapping plans, traffic control plans and as-built plans.

Through this specialised role, utility data collection and updates will be executed more accurately, consistently, comprehensively and up-to-date.

The goal of this initiative is to ensure more planned, controlled and systematic installation of utility infrastructure across the entire state of Perak.

Saarani said the state government strongly supports KUDR as it is in line with the Perak Sejahtera 2030 goals.

"With the implementation of KUDR, it will provide job and business opportunities for the people of Perak through a more organised state utility infrastructure value chain.

"Perakians will also benefit from sustainable development through the installation of utility infrastructure that is more planned and effectively monitored," he said in a statement today.

With the launch of KUDR, the KUDR Online System (Kudrat) was also introduced.

With the slogan "Utility Corridor Collaboration Transformation", Kudrat is more than an online system that will transform the landscape of managing the development of utility infrastructure in Perak.

Kudrat will serve as a complementary component to drive three out of six main agendas of the Perak Sejahtera Plan 2023, namely Digital Economy.

Kudrat will play a crucial role in driving digital economic growth in Perak through the provision of a digital platform that facilitates efficient access and management of utility data.

KUDR chief executive officer Adham Nasri bin Mohamad said Kudrat will be developed in phases until it becomes an integrated utility management platform, integrated with the State Utility Database located under the supervision of PerakGIS.

"Through Kudrat, the development and upgrading of government facilities in Perak will become more efficient and seamless, where all government departments, agencies and relevant industry players will have specific access to utilise Kudrat," he said.

To date, more than 40 job opportunities have been created, and 18 local licenced land surveyors have been awarded business opportunities.

This represents the maximum number of licensed land surveyors available in Perak, indicating KUDR's commitment to local licenced land surveyors.

All 18 of these land surveyors have been offered business opportunities as utility mapping plan vendors.
