Honda aims to sell 1,350 Jazz units monthly

HONDA Malaysia Sdn Bhd has set a monthly sales target of 1,350 units for its new Honda Jazz.

It expected to sell 1,200 units of the Jazz Petrol and 150 units of the Jazz Sport Hybrid a month, said managing director and chief executive officer Katsuto Hayashi at the launch, here, yesterday.

The Petrol comes in three variants, namely the S, E and V, while the Sport Hybrid has only one variant which is similar to the Petrol E.

Hayashi said Malaysia was the only country outside of Japan to introduce the new Sport Hybrid intelligent dual-clutch drive (i-DCD) system.

“The new Jazz Hybrid is the only Sport Hybrid in Malaysia that is priced below RM90,000. The decision to launch the Sport Hybrid i-DCD in Malaysia is very much in line with the Malaysian government’s aspiration to promote energy-efficient vehicles.

“As the pioneer of hybrid technology in Malaysia back in 2004 and the first manufacturer to produce hybrid vehicles locally in 2012, we are committed to producing a good line-up of fuel-efficient vehicles in support of the government’s initiatives for the automotive industry.”

He said Honda Malaysia’s local research and development team had spent two years to ensure that the new Jazz was suitable for local road conditions.

“We had tested this model in the past two years over more than 7,000km on Malaysian roads. The new Jazz Sport Hybrid was tested on different conditions such as heavy traffic, windy weather and slopes. It has enabled us to perfect the vehicle to suit Malaysian road conditions and driving style,” he said.

The Petrol variants are priced from RM74,800 to RM88,400, while the Sport Hybrid is retailed at RM87,500. Prices include insurance and Goods and Services Tax.
