Fast Bikes introduces 2018 Triumph Street Triple

FAST Bikes Sdn Bhd officially introduced three new variants of the 2018 Triumph Street Triple naked motorcycle on Wednesday.

The three variants introduced for the Malaysian market are the Triumph Street Triple S, Triumph Street Triple RS and Triumph Street Triple R Low Ride Height (LRH) (with a seat 30mm lower than the standard seat).

Speaking at the launch of the new variants, Fast Bikes Sdn Bhd Chief operating officer Datuk Razak al-Malique said the previous generation of the Triumph Street Triple was one of the most versatile motorcycles in its segment.

“The Street Triple offered practicality for those looking for a daily ride and manic performance for the weekend at the race tracks. The new Street Triple builds on an already proven formula and has been made even better. We are confident that Malaysians will find the Street Triple to be perfectly suited to their needs. Be it for daily commuting, touring or outings on the tracks, they will love the performance of the new Street Triple S, R and RS,” Razak said.

The Street Triple S is available in two colours — Diablo Red and Phantom Black — and is priced at RM52,900. The Street Triple R comes in three colours; namely Crystal White, Phantom Black and Matt Silver Ice, and is priced at RM59,900.00.

The top of the range Street Triple RS is available in two colours — Matt Silver Ice and Phantom Black (Metallic) — at RM66,900. All prices are inclusive of Goods and Services Tax.

The new range of Street Triple variants are powered by a revised Daytona 675 engine, with 80 new parts including increased bore and stroke, new crank, pistons, con-rods and balancer shaft. There are also new nikasil-plated aluminium barrels that replace the old iron liners in the 675cc engine.

In Street Triple S guise, the new engine produces 111hp at 11,250rpm, and 73Nm of torque at 9,100rpm. In the R form, the engine produces 116hp at 12,000rpm and 77Nm of torque at 9,400rpm.

In the RS, it produces 121hp at 11,700rpm and 77Nm of torque at 10,800rpm.

The new engines are managed by a new Engine Control Unit (ECU) that offers up to five riding modes. All variants come with anti-skid braking system (ABS) and switchable traction control as standard.

In terms of design, the new Street Triple comes with Daytime Running Lights (DRLs) for the R and RS variants, and new bodywork. The instrument cluster has been enhanced, with the S variant getting an updated LCD instrument screen with fuel gauge, odometer and the trip metre, while the R and RS get an impressive all-new five-inch TFT display, that Triumph says is among the industry’s best.

Both the R and RS variants come with Showa fully adjustable front forks, while the RS gets Ohlins in the rear.

Both variants are also equipped with Brembo brakes, with the RS getting a range topping Brembo M50 four-piston, radial mono bloc caliper up front.
