BMW Group Malaysia has introduced the BMW 5 Series Hybrid with eDrive technology, priced at RM343,800 excluding insurance.
The all-new BMW 530e Sport is the fifth BMW iPerformance model introduced in the country, to further reinforce the premium automaker’s expertise in plug-in hybrid technology.
“The eDrive technology is an innovation taken from the Mobility of the Future - BMW i. The all-new BMW 530e Sport also increases our portfolio of premium plug-in hybrid vehicles here, enabling us to offer the largest portfolio offering by any automaker in the country and demonstrate our commitment to visionary mobility in Malaysia,” said BMW Malaysia head of sales Raymond Tan at the launching ceremony.
Fifty-five per cent of BMW Malaysia’s total sales volume last year are contributed by its BMW Hybrid with eDrive technology.
“In terms of model mix share, we are also proud to share that 55 per cent of our total models for the country are hybrid vehicles with eDrive technology. This also make us fifth in the world in terms of deliveries of plug-in hybrid vehicles,” said Tan.
Last year, BMW Malaysia set an all-time high sales record for the BMW X5 xDrive40e by delivering over 3,000 units, making Malaysia the second-largest market after America. Malaysia is also the third-largest market for the BMW 330e and the BMW 740Le xDrive with over 2,400 units and over 450 units delivered, respectively.
“The all-new BMW 530e Sport will be a meaningful addition to our iPerformance portfolio and we are confident it will underpin us as leaders in shaping mobility of the future in Malaysia,” Tan said.
The BMW 530e Sport is powered by the 2.0-litre inline 4-cylinder BMW TwinPower turbo petrol engine that generates 184hp and 320 Nm of torque. Combined with the BMW eDrive system electric motor, it has a system output of 252hp and 420 Nm of torque.
BMW claims that the BMW 530e can complete the century sprint in 6.2 seconds with a top speed of 235kph. It has a combined fuel consumption of 2.0 litres per 100km, with a significantly low CO2 emission of 46g/km. It offers an all-electric driving range of up to 48km with a maximum speed of up to 140kph - the best in the segment.
It is equipped with LED headlamps with daytime running lights, LED fog lights, comfort access keyless entry with contactless boot operation, 19-inch V-Spoke light alloy wheels, double round exhaust tailpipe, eDrive illuminated sill panels, 11-colour options ambient lighting, BMW Sport multi-function steering wheel, 12 loudspeakers HiFi system, power-adjustable front leather seats with driver’s side memory, four-zone automatic climate control, sunblinds and professional navigation system with a 10.25-inch touchscreen.
There is also the full 12.3-inch multi-function instrument display, reverse camera, Park Assistant for automated parallel and perpendicular parking manoeuvres, BMW ConnectedDrive and the Dynamic Damper with Adaptive Mode.
Safety features include the driving assistant package, which consists of lane change warning, blind spot monitor, approach control warning and person warning with city brake function, rear crossing traffic warning and rear collision prevention.
The BMW 5 Series Hybrid with eDrive technology is available in four colour options - Bluestone Metallic, Mediterranean Blue, Alpine White and Black Sapphire.
It will be available at all authorised BMW dealerships across the country with monthly installment plan starting from RM3,588.00 with the BMW Credit Malaysia Balloon Financing 80 per cent loan financial plan.
The All-New BMW 530e Sport is also offered with the BMW Full Circle Programme from BMW Credit Malaysia.
