New Lambo SUV excites Malaysian buyers

LAMBORGHINI Kuala Lumpur says its newly launched super sport utility vehicle, Urus, has received strong interest from customers.

“The feedback from our customers has been positive. We have received 30 bookings so far for the new Urus, that increases our sales by 70 per cent,” said its chief operating officer, Marcus Chye.

Chye added that it would take up to one and a half years for the delivery.

“Customers who place their booking now, would need to wait 12 to 18 months for the delivery of their Urus. We haven’t finalised the price, but the base variant should be around RM800,000 excluding taxes and insurance,” Chye said.

The Urus is a luxury sports utility vehicle with a super sports car dynamism. It is powered by a 4.0-litre petrol V8 twin-turbo aluminium engine mated to an eight-speed automatic gearbox, which churns out 650hp at 6,000rpm and 850Nm of torque from 2,250 to 4,500 rpm.

Lamborghini claims the Urus can accelerate from zero to 100kph in 3.6 seconds, zero to 200kph in 12.8 seconds and reaches a top speed of 305kph. Its braking performance is impressive as it is capable of stopping from 100kph to 0kp with a distance of 33.7m.

It measures at 5,112mm in length, 2,016mm in width, 1,638mm in height, 3,003mm in wheelbase and a ground clearance of 158mm to 248mm (adjustable via air suspension). It weighs less than 2,200kg and it has a fuel tank capacity of 85 litres. The vehicle has a boot space of 616 litres to 1,596 litres.

The four-wheel drive Urus features an active torque vectoring via a rear differential. It enables propulsive power to be instantly distributed to each individual wheel for enhance traction and also depending on the driving mode, driving style and the road’s grip.

It adopts the rear-wheel steering system introduced in the Lamborghini Aventador S. The system helps increase the vehicle’s agility, stability, ride comfort and reduce turning circle.

The SUV is equipped with the “Tamburo” and “Ego” driving mode selector, electromechanical active roll stabilisation system and the specially-tuned damping system, which continually adjusting to different driving conditions.

It is fitted with LED headlights and taillights, integrated double round exhaust pipes, rear diffusser, multi-function three-spoke steering wheel, fully-digital TFT infotainment display, fully electric powered adjusted seats, powered tailgate with hands-free function, 8 airbags, the largest carbon ceramic brakes — measuring 440 x 40 mm at the front and 370 x 30 mm at the rear — and the Advanced Driver Assistance Systems, which consists of high-beam assistance, front and rear parking sensors, and cruise control.

“Malaysian buyers are some of the most discerning in the world. We are confident that they will appreciate the Urus as a true Lamborghini in design, dynamics, emotional excitement and offering a new dimension in everyday ease of use and comfortable luxury,” said Chye.
