KTM launches new 250cc off-road motorcycle

KUALA LUMPUR: KTM Malaysia has launched the new 250 SX-F (Super Cross Four Stroke) off-road motorcycle, priced from RM38,500 excluding insurance and registration.

The new model was launched at the KTM Malaysia Lifestyle Centre in Kota Damansara today.

The 2019 250 SX-F (Super Cross Four Stroke) gets a new, longer subframe with updates to its engine, suspension, and chassis.

Designed to give the best off road experience to riders, the 250 SX-F has a 40mm longer subframe and a new 5mm longer swingarm.

KTM said this improved its handling and reliability during hard riding.

This is a significant improvement, according to 2016 FIM Asia Supermoto Champion, Muhd Habibullah Saleh, or better known as ‘Gabit’.

“Last year during the Kemamam race I had trouble with the shorter subframe and crashed during the jump which resulted in a punctured lung,” Gabit told the reporters at the launch.

Another notable upgrade is the newly developed DS clutch (Diaphragm Steel). It features a one-piece clutch basket combined with the primary gear made of high-strength billet steel with approximately 190g weight reduction.

According the KTM Technical Trainer Mohd Khairul Azhar, this improves the clutch engagement and operation.

The suspension also gets new suspension settings and new triple clamps designed to give better front end control. As for the engine and gearbox, all SX and SX-F models operate on the PANKL gearbox. Racing parts supplier, PANKL makes the five-speed transmissions on the 2019 KTMs.

The 250 SX-F also gets a new fuel pump assembly which optimises the internal routing.
