Proton launches 2019 Exora

A decade after it was originally launched, Proton released the 2019 Exora with a price of RM59,800 for the Exora 1.6T Executive and RM66,800 for the Exora 1.6T Premium earlier this week.

The Exora received running changes in the form of styling revisions and component improvements, including smart features similar to those in the latest Proton models, such as the X70 and the 2019 Persona and Iriz.

The exterior remains pretty much the same, aside from a new shark fin antenna paired with black exterior roof panel and a Rosewood Maroon paint option. Under the bonnet, things haven’t changed much either, with the similar 1.6-litre turbocharged engine producing 140PS at 5,000rpm and 203Nm of torque from 2,000rpm to 4,000rpm.

The interior, however, sees a few changes, with a new meter combination,aseven-inch full colour touchscreen with the now familiar “Hi Proton” functions, a new “borderless” rear-view mirror, and an additional USB port as well as new interior upholstery.

On the 1.6T Premium variant, there is internet connectivity with an embedded ESIM card, with apps for music streaming, online navigation and weather updates offered.

Proton said to ensure the software remained up to date, Over the Air (OTA) updates would be offered from time to time and new apps might be added when they became available.

The system also offers smartphone connectivity as well as a mirror function for Android devices.

Safety features on the Exora include twin front airbags, electronic stability control (ESC), disc brakes all-around, anti-lock brakes (ABS), electronic brake distribution (EBD) and front seatbelts with pretensioners. Convenience features include rear parking sensors and a reverse camera.

To sweeten the deal, Proton is offering four packages to deliver extra value to prospective Exora buyers.

They include a service package with three free labour services, an internet data package with free data of up to 1GB per month for five years, an interest rate package with financing rates as low as 2.76 per cent, and an insurance package with a number of benefits from Proton’s panel of insurers.

On top of this, Proton is offering customers who buy the Exora before the end of this year a five-year, or 11 times, free labour service package.

In addition, the first 1,000 buyers will also receive free road tax (two years for private buyers and one year for corporate customers).
