New CAM Kingo Series unveiled

R&A Marketing Sdn Bhd (a subsidiary of Sendok Group) has introduced a new van series under King Long, which is the new CAM Kingo series.

The van’s launch was also to commemorate the 10th year anniversary of the cooperation between Sendok Group and Xiamen King Long United Automotive Industry Co. Ltd. in distributing King Long minivans in Malaysia.

The new CAM Kingo series is offered in four trims, and is said to be the most complete van range in the local market.

This complements the current range of CAM vans and fills the gap in the segment.

Customers can opt the van in Kingo Ute Window (15-seater basic spec), Kingo (15-seater comfort spec), Kingo Plus (18-seater comfort spec), and Kingo Ute Panel (high roof panel van), which is also the biggest panel van in its class.

Standard equipment for the van include LED daytime running lights, halogen projector headlights, a chrome honeycomb grille, 16-inch alloy wheels, rear air-conditioning with double rear cooling coil units and nine air vents, semi-fabric seats, as well as dual sliding doors.

Safety features like the anti-lock braking system (ABS), electronic brake force distribution (EBD) and reverse camera are also fitted as standard.

The van is powered by a 3.0-litre Common Rail Turbo Intercooler diesel engine (Euro 3) which delivers a power output of 148hp at 3,400rpm and 370Nm of torque at 2,000rpm.

The CAM Kingo is designed for use as a people transporter, school van, ambulance, hearse, courier and logistics vehicle.

Its selling price starts at RM99,000 and it comes with a 5-year or 150,000km warranty (whichever comes first).

Customers are supported by a 24/7 hotline, 65 service dealers nationwide and free towing within the warranty period.

As part of launch promotion, buyers will receive a free dash cam or exclusive CAM carpet upon purchase of the new van.

EV vehicle for 2020

At the launch, Sendok Group managing director and chief executive officer Gwee Bok Wee said that in conjunction with the revised New Automotive Policy (NAP), the company would bring in green vehicles to expand its vehicle range.

The CAM Kingo series will expand to include electric vehicles as King Long readily had the technology and technical know-how of the products in China.

Gwee said Sendok Group’s turnover under the new commercial vehicle segment had reached RM300 million over 10 years and the group was building a 400,000sq manufacturing plant in Klang.

The plant is expected to be ready next year. A total RM50 million has been invested in the project.

“In conjunction with Industry 4.0, the new manufacturing plant shall adopt more automation and digitalisation. With this new production capacity, Sendok Group aims to cater to the bigger demand of Southeast Asia market and to capitalize on the Asean Free Trade Area, and move towards the international market,” he said.

The event was officiated by Deputy International Trade and Industry Minister Dr Ong Kian Ming, who was accompanied by Gwee and Xiamen King Long United Automotive Industry managing director of overseas, sales and marketing Simon Xie.

Also present at the event were Sendok Group group chairman Datuk Wazir Muaz, group executive director Lau Kiat Hoon, group adviser Datuk Mohamad Dalib, Land Public Transport Agency general director Azlan Shah Al Bakri, Puspakom marketing and advisory head Datuk Ooi Ooi Win Juat, and Malaysia Automotive Association president Datuk Aishah Ahmad.
