Police unveil new promotions and transfers

KUALA LUMPUR: Former administrative chief of police at the Bukit Aman Management Department, Datuk Wan Hassan Wan Ahmad, is set to embark on a new role as the director of the Crime Prevention and Community Safety Department, effective Jan 23, 2024.

In an official statement, the police unveiled a series of transfers and promotions involving 42 senior officers.

Noteworthy appointments include deputy police chief M. Kumar S. Muthuvelu and deputy police chief Datuk Abu Samah Mohd Nor, who will assume the roles of Johor police chief and PDRM College commander, respectively. Federal Police secretary deputy commissioner Alfazny Ahmad also revealed that SAC Afandi Senin will be taking on the role of Johor deputy police chief, succeeding M. Kumar.

Additionally, SAC Adzli Abu Shah, formerly the head of the Criminal Investigation Department in Kedah, will now serve as the Kedah deputy police chief.

"In other significant changes, the former deputy director of the Administrative Management Department at Bukit Aman, Gilberd Philip Layang, has been promoted to deputy director of the (Technical/Operation) Logistics and Technology Department at Bukit Aman. Meanwhile, assistant director E4 Special Branch at Bukit Aman, Datuk Zahib Sabari, has been appointed as the chief assistant director of the same E4 unit," he said.

Alfazny added that the former PDRM College commander, Datuk Pahlawan Anuar Othman, has been named as the deputy director of the Administrative Management Department at Bukit Aman, succeeding Gilberd.
