New telco Yoodo gives users the flexibility to build their own data plan

KUALA LUMPUR: Everyone wants different things in life, and this is especially true when it comes to a mobile data plan.

Yoodo, Malaysia’s newest mobile brand, is offering a build-your-own plan options for users wanting more flexibility month to month.

Unlike normal plans that come with its pre-set amount of data and features, Yoodo lets customers pick the amount of data, calls and SMS each month.

Not happy with the plan? Customers can also change, upgrade or downgrade their package at any time via the Yoodo mobile app.

Customers don’t have to choose prepaid or contract, but rather get the best of both worlds with the flexibility to dynamically add-on or auto-renew as they please.

To sign up, customers need only register their details via the app or web, customise their plans, choose a number (or keep your old one) and wait for the SIM card to be delivered at their doorstep.

Owned and operated by Celcom Axiata Berhad, the Yoodo app is available for all Android and iOS devices.

Apart from self-registration and immediate SIM delivery, other highlights of the services include roam-like-home, add-on boosters, rewards, and non-intrusive promotions triggered by location or user preferences.

Customers can also use the Wi-Fi tethering feature at no extra charge and use the domestic data quota while roaming abroad (now available in 12 countries).

"Traditional mobile operators design plans based on what they want to sell the customer, developing various plans and features that don’t fit most customer’s individual needs.

"We’ve flipped that on its head and enabled users to customise their own mobile plans, with everything done online to give our customers full control, because frankly, they would do it better," said Yoodo head Farid Yunus.
