World class Dota tournament

KUALA LUMPUR: eGG Network and co-organisers PGL and Imba TV have collaborated to present the first Malaysia Major event, Kuala Lumpur Major.

This first Major status tournament for the Dota Pro Circuit (DPC) 2018/2019 season will take place at the Axiata Arena from November 16 to 18, 2018,

The Kuala Lumpur Major will see new and old teams battle their way to be among the 16 international professional teams competing for a share of the total prize tool of US$1 million.

Launched by Malaysia Youth and Sports Minister Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman, the Kuala Lumpur Major received full support from the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the National Sports Council of Malaysia.

“Malaysia is among the ‘Big 6’ e-sports nations in Southeast Asia that account for over 98 per cent of e-sports enthusiasts in this region. Southeast Asia is the fastest growing region for e-sports, with the number of e-sports enthusiasts expected to double to 19.8million in 2019, from 9.5million in 2016," said Syed Saddiq during his launch speech at an event held at Menara M101.

He said Malaysia has the potential to be the region’s e-sports hub and holding an international tournament such as The Kuala Lumpur Major is significant as it provides opportunities for our e-sports industry to be on par with the global's best,” he said.

The tournament will also see a collaboration between eGG Network, PGL and Imba TV to bring the best live e-sports viewing experience at Axiata Arena as well as coverage on eGG Network’s social platforms.
