Yes, WhatsApp was down (but it's all good now)

POPULAR messaging app WhatsApp was down in various regions this evening from around 7pm to 10pm in Malaysia.

The outage caused millions of users around the world especially in Europe, Southeast Asia, South America the inability to send and receive messages especially photos and videos on the platform, according to Downdetector.

The cause of the outage is still not known, but it appears to have been fixed in Malaysia and in other affected countries as well.

This is the latest outage to hit this messaging platform after its major outage last March where the platform was down for almost a day as a result of a server configuration change.

The Facebook-owned messaging platform has more than 1 billion users today in over 160 countries.
