WHEN I was growing up, flip-flops were certainly not considered trendy footwear.
We called them “Japanese slippers” and they were not something anyone gave much thought to, made as they were of simple rubber and in very basic designs.
Almost every house would have a few pairs scattered around the porch for use in the garden.

In conjunction with its 2017 global campaign to celebrate the spirit of summer in Brazil, Havaianas’ range of iconic Top and Slim flip-flops are now available at RM44.90.
The Top model, the first extension of the Havaianas brand, was what triggered a new rage for colourful flip-flops around the world until even celebrities took note and fell in love with the brand.
The Havaianas Top range, which comes in 10 vibrant colours with matching straps, includes eye-catching shades such as Citrus Yellow, Pearl Pink, Ruby Red and Green Olive, all designed to draw attention to your feet.
The Havaianas Slim range of single coloured flip-flops feature thinner more delicate straps, offering a stylised silhouette and a more feminine look.
Monochrome Havaianas like the Top and Slim are ideal for expressing oneself while revelling in some fun under the sun.

“With certain flip-flops, the rubber loses its firmness over time so the slipper also loses its shape and you will even see indentations on the sole area. Our flip-flops retain their shape and comfort level,” adds Chew.
