Beauty trends to look out for in 2020

IT’S 2020 and the standard for beauty brands is to deliver more than just great products.

Some brands aim to have a positive impact on the environment, while others challenge norms through innovation and technology.

While we have seen some incredible beauty trends that have taken the world by storm over the past decade, experts predict that this year will mark the beginning of an entirely new era of skincare.

Here are some of the most anticipated skincare trends to shape the year, according to Swedish brand Foreo.

FUTURE OF SKINTECH

Technology certainly left a huge mark on the beauty industry last year. It’s predicted that the industry will continue to be driven by innovations such as smart beauty products.

The Foreo Luna facial cleanser was one of the most-talked-about products of 2019 as it changed the cleansing game.

The product, categorised as a thermo-facial cleansing device, creates a fast, effective route to clear skin which is not easily replicated manually.

With technology, skincare junkies are able to access luxury spa-like facial treatments in the comfort of their home using app-controlled beauty devices.

MICROCURRENT FACIAL

Technology is also shaping new wave skincare trends through microcurrent facials.

Celebrities such as J-LO and Kim Kardashian swear by them.

Microcurrent facials use low-grade electrical current to stimulate and firm facial muscles. It’s akin to a workout for the face.

Experts say we should keep our eyes peeled on these app-controlled microcurrent devices this year.

KEEPING IT SIMPLE

The popular 10-step skincare regimen by the Koreans undeniably uses a lot of products to complete the routine.

A new trend called the N-Beauty (N for Nordic) suggests that we cut back on the number of products used.

CANNABIDIOL BEAUTY

We are always encouraged to use nutrient-rich, natural products when it comes to our wellbeing and this includes skincare.

Cannabidiol, which is a non-intoxicating extract of the hemp plant cannabis, is said to be the answer to delivering both inner and outer beauty.

It is described as a “super ingredient” which is used not only for pain relief as well as stimulation but also moisturises and nourishes skin.

It is predicted that this ingredient is set to take the beauty world by storm this year.
