WHILE busy preparing for Konsert Nova 2017, which will see the involvement of local and Indonesian artistes on Aug 5 at Stadium Malawati, Shah Alam, award-winning singer-songwriter Faizal Tahir has more good news for his fans.
He is set to embark on a nationwide tour in November or December, something which he has not done for some time due to his busy schedule.
“It’s high time that I toured the country since the last time I did so was more than five years ago,” said Faizal at the launch of Konsert Nova 2017 at Royale Chulan Damansara Hotel in Mutiara Damansara, Petaling Jaya, recently.
Besides promoting his latest album, Anatomi Faizal Tahir, released last year, Faizal considers the tour as a “thank you gift” for fans who have been supporting him, enabling him to clinch the Grup/Duo MeleTOP title, together with Datuk Siti Nurhaliza, at the recent Anugerah MeleTOP Era 2017.
“I’m looking at three to five stops in my tour.
“The Klang Valley is a definite yes, as well as Johor and Sabah, Sarawak, especially Kota Kinabalu.
“The other two stops include Penang and a major town in the east coast like Kuala Terengganu.”
The 39-year-old artiste, who is giving motivational talks at local universities as ambassador for the government’s Skim Latihan 1Malaysia, shares his experience and motivational songs as a self-made musician with job-seeking graduates, motivating them to believe in themselves and pursue their dreams.
On his involvement in Konsert Nova, Faizal said he was the “mystery singer” whom organiser Suasana Enak Sdn Bhd had fans vote for prior to the concert’s launch on April 25.
Faizal will be one of seven singers entertaining fans in the two-hour concert.
The others are Dayang Nurfaizah and Azlan Rosle of Azlan and the Typewriter, and Indonesians Cakra Khan, Judika, Syahrini and Mia Isni.
Composer Aubrey Suwito will be the music director.
Each singer will perform six to seven songs.
There will also be duets involving artistes from both countries.
“I’m looking forward to the concert as it gives me the chance to collaborate with Indonesian musical talents.
“I’ve performed with Cakra before. He has an amazing, soulful voice,” said Faizal.
Faizal, who visited Indonesia early last month for humanitarian work as part of his non-governmental organisation, I Am Faith Men’s programmes, helped Indonesian artiste Dewi Sandra renovate a shelter home for street kids in Jakarta.
