Media Prima joins Waze for Broadcasters, provides latest traffic reports to road users

KUALA LUMPUR: The Media Prima Radio Networks (MPRN) has joined Waze for Broadcasters, a navigation application to provide instant traffic information to Malaysian drivers.

Its chief executive officer Seelan Paul said the Waze Complete Traffic Intelligence is an application which combines historical and real-time traffic information directly from the source (the drivers themselves).

He said the networks, which consists of Fly FM, Hot FM, One FM and Kool FM, will be among the first to know of breaking news on the roads, and its anchors will be the first to report on the conditions affecting listeners.

“Our listeners rely on us to provide the most accurate, up-to-the-minute information on constructions, marathons, floods, traffic or anything else that can cause delays on major roads during rush hour across Malaysia.

“Waze for Broadcasters allow them to use citizen journalism to surface valuable insights we haven’t had access to previously, to gain a deeper understanding of real-time conditions affecting drivers every day, ” he said, in a statement, yesterday.

With more than 2.5million users in Klang Valley, Waze APAC Lead Mona Weng said Waze was founded to enable drivers to spend less time on the road.

“Waze was developed on the belief that we can outsmart traffic together. Malaysia is our number one market in Asia and we are excited to be partnered with MPRN to help their listeners navigate more efficiently around Malaysia.

“Our tools and data will power MPRN’s traffic reports with real-time alerts of traffic, road closures and other incidents that may impact a commute,” she said.
