KUALA LUMPUR: Fans of Descendant of the Sun today are shedding tears of sorrow (and joy), after news broke that the two leads of the 2016 South Korean hit drama series, are getting married.
Yonhap News Agency, the nation’s largest news agency, along with numerous entertainment news blogs and websites published a statement released by Blossom Entertainment and UAA, the companies representing the two stars, announcing the couple’s upcoming nuptials in October this year.
“First, we would like to express our sincere gratitude to both Korean and international fans who have given their love and interest to Song Joong-ki and Song Hye-kyo. We ask for your understanding for this sudden news,” said Blossom Entertainment and UAA.
“Song Joong-ki and Song Hye-kyo are planning to hold their marriage on October 31.
“The wedding does not only involve the individuals but also their families and because of this, we had to be careful about the situation,” the companies added.
“Until the wedding was confirmed, we had to be careful about the situation and now we are able to give our official position.
“We ask for everyone’s understanding. We ask for everyone’s blessing for the beautiful future of the two actors and the two will also share the news individually. Thank you.”
Fans of the show and the stars were mostly shocked (and ecstatic) when the news broke. Many said that they had no idea the two big stars were even dating.
They also shared that the SongSong couple are definitely made for each other.
Of course, some have also expressed their sadness that the much-loved Joong-ki is now off the market.
