KUALA LUMPUR: She may only be 8 years old but Engku Aleesya, the only child of actress Erra Fazira, already has an enviable number of followers on Instagram.
At close to 14,000 followers, the Instagram account is not even hers to begin with. It was created five days ago by fans as an unofficial account for the little girl, with the handle @aleesyaholic.
Engku Aleesya’s popularity seemed to skyrocket after her father, Engku Emran, recently tied the knot with Indonesian actress, Laudya Cynthia Bella.
The combined fame of both her mother and stepmother has certainly made the cute child a recognisable figure not just in her home country but in Indonesia as well.
Erra was seen to endorse the fan-made account by following it herself.
In a news report by BH Online, the actress said: “I really didn’t expect this. It never occurred to me before this that Aleesya would gain such immense popularity. I look at it from a positive angle though, in seeing how she is loved by many.”
Erra added that this type of scenario was out of the hands of artistes and celebrities, since it was quite common to see many unofficial online accounts on them and their children as well.
"My only hope is that this particular account will not be misused for personal gain or any other negative aspect. So far everything looks alright.”
"I follow the account so that I can keep an eye on it from time to time. If I were to find something not right there, I would certainly do something about it,” said Erra.
The actress had actually set up an official account for her daughter quite some time ago already with the handle @engku.aleesya001.
"That was really me who created it but I haven’t uploaded anything on it yet. I’m waiting for her to grow up first,” said Erra, who is currently busy filming on location for the latest season of the popular police drama, Gerak Khas.
