K-Pop group BTS to have its own music show

KUALA LUMPUR: Award-winning boy group BTS is still riding high on its global success with its latest EP Love Yourself: ‘Her’.

To add to the excitement, the seven-member outfit has confirmed to star in its own music show, as reported by Soompi.

South Korean channel Mnet announced today that the filming for a show, exclusively featuring BTS, had been completed last week.

The programme’s current working title is BTS Countdown, taken of Mnet’s celebrated music show M!Countdown.

Slated to premiere next month, it has a similar format to BTS’ Comeback Show, a live TV special on the boys, held on Sept 21 to celebrate the release of Love Yourself: ‘Her’.

It will feature talk sessions as well as performances of the members’ hit tracks from the new EP.

Meanwhile, BTS achieved its goal when their Love Yourself: Her’s title track DNA made it into Billboard’s coveted Hot 100 chart, peaking at No. 85.

The group’s feat in charting a Korean-language song follows that of South Korean rapper-singer PSY, whose global hit Gangnam Style peaked at No. 2 for seven weeks in 2012, according to Billboard.

Recently, BTS became the first-ever K-Pop act to chart in the top 10 of Billboard’s 200 albums chart, with Love Yourself: Her debuting at No. 7.

On top of that, Love Yourself: Her tops Billboard’s World Albums chart and placed second in Japan’s Oricon chart.

And before that, the EP tops the iTunes charts in several countries, while the group became the first K-Pop act to enter Spotify’s Global Top 50 chart.

Its DNA’s music video became the 11th most viewed video of all-time in the first 24 hours.

BTS is currently promoting the album’s triple tracks on various music shows in South Korea.
