KUALA LUMPUR: Actress Emma Maembong denied rumours that she was getting married to a businessman from Sabah and that she was the reason behind his divorce.
During the recent conflict between the 25-year-old actress and her boyfriend, actor Kamal Adli, the businessman, known as Datuk Salim Rahman, came forward to say that he and Emma were just friends after being introduced by her family members.
Emma was quoted by a news portal as saying that the rumours began after her family suggested that the man propose to her.
“Salim is an acquaintance of my brother-in-law. My family and I are quite close with him. Sometimes, when my sister and her husband go to meet him, I will also tag along and that’s how we became friends,” she explained.
“And sometimes, my brother-in-law would be joking with Salim to propose to me. Believe me, there’s nothing serious between us,” she said.
Emma also added that since they were just friends, she didn't feel strange about uploading a picture of them when she was in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah recently.
