(Showbiz) Joe Flizzow pleasantly surprised by praise from Lupe Fiasco

KUALA LUMPUR: Hip-hop guru Joe Flizzow’s dedication to his craft has won him praise from a well-known American counterpart, Lupe Fiasco.

Lupe, whose real name is Wasalu Muhammad Jaco recently commended Joe for his newest single Drop which was released last last year.

“It’s great that Drop has been well-received by hip-hop fans in the US, Japan and Australia and has also been getting good airplay in these countries. Many disc jockeys have included the song in their playlists,” said Joe in an interview with Astro Gempak yesterday.

“And the big surprise I’ve had is from Lupe who visited Malaysia recently. He said he loved it!”

Since overseas requests for Joe’s songs are “far and few”, Lupe’s “thumbs up” for Drop has encouraged him to spread his wings internationally.

“Lupe isn’t the only foreign artiste who has given me good feedback. A few international hip-hop stars have communicated with me via e-mail and told me that my songs are cool!”

Joe was recently appointed brand ambassador for Hublot watches, and his fellow ambassadors include sportsmen Usain Bolt and Pele, model Bar Refaeli, pianist Lang Lang and pop group Depeche Mode.

“I’d love to meet my fellow ambassadors in international events one day,” he said.
