#Showbiz: 'This Is Johan' is about me, says Joe Flizzow

KUALA LUMPUR: Popular rapper Joe Flizzow says he didn't approach his former Too Phat partner Malique to be interviewed in the documentary 'This Is Johan' because he already anticipated his refusal.

"I didn't (approach Malique)... because I already knew the answer would be 'No'", said Joe at the screening party of the documentary held at Menara Maxis here, yesterday.

"I have to respect his decision of not wanting to be in the limelight anymore," added the 44-year-old artiste, whose real name is Johan Ishak.

"Besides, this documentary is about me, not him. But he was a part of my story, that's for sure."

Despite this, Joe hoped that if Malique were to watch the documentary, he'd find it entertaining.

Joe and Malique teamed up as hip hop duo Too Phat in 1998, and created a phenomenon in the local music scene then.

In 2017, they split up and went on to pursue solo careers.

'This Is Johan' is a two-part documentary which traces Joe's journey in paving the foundation of hip hop in Malaysia.

It is now available for streaming on Viu.
