Screenwriter and TV host Rafidah Abdullah denies 'getting married' Down Under

KUALA LUMPUR: Former 3R host and Manisnya Cinta Di Cappadocia scriptwriter Rafidah Abdullah has dispelled malicious rumours of a same-sex marriage in Australia.

Instead, she has invited gossipmongers to conduct a check on her "marriage registration" because the marriage did not happen.

Entertainment blog Beautifulnara.com reported today that Rafidah, in a screenshot of a conversation with an unnamed Twitter user, denied getting "hitched" and described it as a "ridiculous lie".

She said: "Don't worry, folks! I'm relaxing at home with my beloved cats. As for gossip mongers, do feel free to check my passport or visit the registrar of marriages!"

Rafidah's rumoured "marriage" sent shockwaves amongst Netizens when her alleged "life partner" posted photos of them wearing similar rings today.

The unidentified woman said in her Instagram photo caption: “We? Hells yeah, we are! Signing my death warrant / agreement to be enslaved. No hashtag, no photoshoot, no special dress, just love. LOL. We did it. Many thanks, friends. You’ve been great!”

Her Instagram account was subsequently deactivated.

Rafidah, a law graduate from Universiti Malaya, was one of the pioneer hosts of women's magazine 3R on TV3 in 2000.

Two years later, she pursued a postgraduate degree in scriptwriting at the University of London, the United Kingdom.
