#Showbiz: EXO to be first K-Pop act with official 'medal of honour'

KUALA LUMPUR: Ultra popular K-Pop band EXO has been making a mint thanks to the support from its legion of diehard fans around the world.

The nine-member outfit also deserves some medals for working hard to become one, if not, the best South Korean music act around.

And it seems like that’s really going to happen to the talented group.

In a report by Allkpop earlier today, EXO would be the first K-Pop group to have an actual medal minted by the Korea Minting and Security Printing Corporation (KOMSCO).

The government-owned corporation is actually responsible for printing and minting South Korean banknotes and coins, as well as government documents like passports.

In the news report, a KOMSCO representative said: “We will be minting an official medal for EXO, who is the top idol group in Korea and at the centre of Hallyu.”

KOMSCO, which was also responsible for creating the recent Pyeongchang Winter Olympics medals, added that the EXO medal would be released next month.

The medals are expected to feature all nine members on the front and the EXO logo on the back. Each medal will also come with an official number and will include preventive counterfeiting measures.
