KUALA LUMPUR: One of the world's highest mountains, the 8,091-metre Annapurna in Nepal has now heard the clarion call “phweeet!” from a Malaysian rock legend.
Suhaimi Abdul Rahman or Amy Search may not have conquered the mountain yet, but at 60, he has successfully made it to the Annapurna Base Camp (ABC) which is 4,130 metres above sea level.
Amy highlighted his feat on Instagram today, and also uploaded a photo of himself at ABC with his wife Nourish Hassan.
It showed him giving her a peck on the cheek and she was stylishly clad in an olive green baju kurung.
Amy and Nourish began their journey to ABC four days ago, and once he reached the village of Jhinudanda, 1,780 metres above sea level, he uploaded an Instagram video in which he greeted fans and called on them to pray for their
safety.
"We're now at 1,780 metres, and 19 kilometres away from Siwai. Tomorrow, we will be climbing thousands of steps to Chomprong," said Amy in the video uploaded on Wednesday.
Amy's latest post generated 2,619 likes and 40 comments, and most Netizens were delighted that he conquered ABC without any problems.
“Malaysia Boleh! Congrats abang and team,” said Razak.
Ali said: “Tahniah tuan dan puan. I'm so proud of you both. There's no barrier if we really try hard.”
Amy's conquest of ABC came six months after his actress daughter Nabila Huda arrived there.
Nabila's expedition took place in October, and she admitted on Instagram that it was “physically and mentally challenging”.
