#Showbiz: Iron Man and Avengers gang assemble in Singapore

KUALA LUMPUR: Iron Man and Doctor Strange were among several Marvel superheroes that assembled in Singapore yesterday to promote the latest epic superhero team movie Avengers: infinity War.

It was reported that Iron Man actor Robert Downey Jr. had said that the trick to the colossal success of the Marvel series of movies was that it never repeated something even if it had been done successfully in the past.

So far 18 Marvel Cinematic Universe films have been released over the last 10 years and the series is in no way slowing down with many more movies already in the pipeline.

The 53-year-old actor added that Avengers: Infinity War could well be the biggest superhero movie yet.

He said this during a Press conference at Marina Bay Sands, which was also attended by Doctor Strange actor Benedict Cumberbatch and actress Karen Gillan who plays Nebula.

"I read in some magazine that the No. 1 fan-voted moment was the airport fight in Captain America: Civil War because there are so many superheroes at once,” he said of the 2016 movie.

The popular American actor added: "But people don't want a repeat of what's worked well. The challenge this time was how do we expand something without repeating something that has been executed well before. It's the anti-process, if you will. Because usually, if something works, you just keep doing that."

Avengers: Infinity War will feature even more superheroes, such as Doctor Strange, Nebula and the Guardians of the Galaxy, fighting together on the side of good against the forces of evil.

When asked about working with the new characters in the film, Downey Jr. said that this was the best opportunity ever to work with more superheroes from the Marvel family.

"I wholeheartedly welcome these other Marvel superheroes into The Avengers team. This is the best chance to work and act together with great people in order to bring the Avengers story to greater heights,” he said at the event, which was also attended by co-director Joe Russo and executive producer Trinh Tran.

Avengers: Infinity War which is the sequel to Marvel's The Avengers (2012) and Avengers: Age Of Ultron (2015), will be screened in cinemas nationwide from April 25.
