#Showbiz: Osman Ali's 'Langsuir' gets second look by censors

KUALA LUMPUR: Award-winning filmmaker Osman Ali’s newest tale of a beautiful, but lonely young vampire, Langsuir is back at the Censorship Board.

However, the man behind Ombak Rindu and Langit Cinta is not worried, but optimistic that everything will be all right.

“We are proclaiming media freedom now. Film is a media platform too. May Langsuir be released soon,” said Osman in an Instagram post yesterday.

He also said that the board had requested that it take a second look at his supernatural tale on Monday, and assured him that the film would be approved soon.

“There’s a new team in the board, and they’ve decided to scrutinise it one more time to ensure that the story was fit for viewing. But I’m very optimistic that it’s just a technicality, and all will be fine.”

Osman added that his 2015 thriller Jwanita was reviewed twice, and it was “normal” for films to visit the board a second time.

The director’ post garnered 42 comments, and Netizens were equally optimistic that Langsuir would be screened on its scheduled date of June 21.

“May the board release it soon. We fans are waiting anxiously,” said ST.

“All the best Osman. We can’t wait for Langsuir to be shown,” said Asyiqin.

Langsuir stars Syafiq Kyle and Hannah Delisha and is a love story between a young man, Azlan and a vampire, Suri.

FIlmed in Langkawi over 25 days in September last year, it is the film debut of Syafiq, 25, and Singapore-born Hannah, 22.

Langsuir is produced by Guam Teamwork and Nuansa, and distributed by Early Bird.
