#Showbiz: TV drama director apologises for factual error in script of latest drama

KUALA LUMPUR: X-rays can never detect one’s memory loss, and director Shahrul Ezad has just learnt this the hard way.

The man behind on-going television drama series Mona Lisa on Astro Prima has apologised to viewers for this major blunder in its storyline.

Shahrul Ezad admitted that he and his scriptwriting team failed to seek doctors’ advice on the abilities of x-rays to detect various ailments in patients.

“I regret that we made this mistake. Likewise my co-director Uchee Fukada. This drama is adapted from a Korean one, and we overlooked some very important facts,” he said in a news report yesterday.

In one of the scenes of the 80-episode drama, a doctor tells a patient that his x-ray results showed that he was suffering from memory loss.

One Netizen, Ajeerah, tweeted last Saturday, “After studying hard for three years and working for two, I now realise that an x-ray can detect memory loss!”

Ajeerah’s tweet was shared by some 13,000 Netizens who slammed Shahrul Ezad and his team for being “illogical”.

“Our local dramas are full of nonsense,” said Syuhadah.

“He and his team must do a lot of research,”said Jue.

Even a medical practitioner, Dr Beni Rusani chipped in and said: “This is no laughing matter. X-rays cannot detect memory loss!”

The drama which stars Zara Zya, Nazim Othman, Mona Allen, Hafreez Adam and Shahz Jaszle is adapted from Korean drama The Women Room, and screened at 6pm from Mondays to Fridays.
