POPULAR singer-songwriter Lah Ahmad has just released his latest single titled 'Alhumaira'.
Coming nine months after 'Jatuh' and a month after his well-attended Istana Budaya Concert, 'Konsert Jatuh Cinta Lah Ahmad', the soulful-voiced founder member of V.E. describes his new single as an "R&B ballad" with meaningful lyrics.
'Alhumaira' was introduced at a media listening session which also featured a preview of its music video in Petaling Jaya, Selangor recently.
It is written and composed by popular singer-songwriter Hafiz Hamidun and once again displays Lah's superb appreciation of spiritual tunes.
"This is the first time I am working with Hafiz for a song. We may have shared the stage together many times over the years, but nothing beats working with him on 'Alhumaira'," said Lah, adding that he and Hafiz exchanged ideas about the song "all the way".
The 43-year-old artiste, whose full name is Abdullah Ahmad, also said that when Hafiz sent him the "demo" of 'Alhumaira', he instantly fell in love with the power-packed melody which tugged at his heart strings.
"We recorded the song within a day two weeks after my Istana Budaya concert concluded," said Lah.
Hafiz said that the inspiration behind 'Alhumaira' "popped up in his head" one morning, and after composing the music, Lah was the first male singer he had in mind to sing the new song.
"He is a busy man, but I am happy that he said yes to recording this beautiful song," said Hafiz, adding that 'Alhumaira' was the first word in the song and only cropped up in the chorus.
"The title of the song means red, and that is the colour of love and compassion. It symbolises all the people we love dearly."
Lah described it as a song about devotion, particularly of a man towards all the women h'e loves.
"It is a song which I can dedicate to my wife and daughters. It is a beautiful love song."
'Alhumaira' was released on all digital music platforms including Spotify, Apple Music, TikTok and Instagram on Nov 25.

Lah Ahmad, who has been in the entertainment industry for the past 25 years, has so far had a good year.
His '25 Years Lah Ahmad Live In Concert' at the Petaling Jaya Performing Arts Centre (PJPAC) was a sold-out affair in January.
The singer, who won Best Vocal Performance (with Jaclyn Victor) for the song 'Ceritera Cinta' at the 22nd Anugerah Juara Lagu in 2007, also performed at his well-received concert in Istana Budaya on Oct 7.
On Nov 18, he was a guest artiste at Aina Abdul's solo concert 'A Night With Aina Abdul 3.0' at Axiata Arena, Bukit Jalil, Kuala Lumpur.
Fans were also able to watch him in action on the small screen this year as one of the lead actors in the drama series, 'One Million Dollar Voice'.
