#Showbiz: Adibah Noor calls on singer Haqiem Rusli to work on English pronunciation

KUALA LUMPUR: Newcomer Haqiem Rusli may have garnered 13 million viewers and countless comments on his Malay-English single Jatuh Bangun featuring Aman Ra.

But one comment he would certainly not forget is from fellow singer Adibah Noor who questioned the way he pronounced the English verses.

The 47-year-old versatile artiste tweeted: “Dear adik Haqiem Rusli, Aunty suka sangat lagu Jatuh Bangun adik tu. Beat catchy, suara pun sedap sesuai untuk cita rasa muzik terkini. (Dear Haqiem Rusli, I like your song. The beat is catchy, and your voice is fitting with the current music scene)

“Cuma part English apekemendenyelaaa yang adik sebut tu?” (But what were you trying to say during the English part?)

Many appeared to agree with Adibah who is a former English teacher, saying that they too could not make out what he was singing.

Haqiem then responded with: “Ok terharu. Terima kasih aunty, gini liriknya...” (Ok I’m honoured. Thank you aunty, this is how the lyric goes..)

Adibah replied: “Ya. Aunty tau itu liriknya. Masalah Haqiem menyebutnya itu. Lain kali mintak ada orang guide ok.” (Yes, I know the lyrics. But the problem is how you pronounced it. Next time get someone to guide you.)
