#Showbiz: Dayangku Intan donates kidney in name of love

KUALA LUMPUR: Veteran singer Dayangku Intan, best known for evergreen Hari Raya song Senandung Hari Raya Untukmu, is making her ultimate sacrifice for her ailing husband.

The 53-year-old whose real name is Tengku Intan Tengku Abdul Hamid has just been given the green light by doctors to donate part of her kidney to her husband Rosman Yahil, 56, who is suffering from kidney disease.

She said doctors had “cleared” her for the procedure following a health check, and she would undergo surgery in the third week of September.

“Thank God all is well on my side, and now the doctors have said yes. I want to save my husband, after all he has done for me, and furthermore he is the love of my life,” she said in a news report today.

Dayang thanked her family members and close friends for helping her with the medical expenses which included surgery and follow-up treatment.

However, she lamented that artiste associations have declined to provide financial aid for her husband’s treatment, on the grounds that Rosman was not an association member.

Dayang and Rosman have been married for 34 years and have four children.

She has seven studio albums to her credit, and her other hit songs include Semakin Rindu Semakin Sayang and Kita Insan Biasa a duet with Jay Jay.

She has also acted in the 1986 romantic comedy Ali Setan 2 with the late Azmil Mustapha and Izi Yahya.

In 2013, Dayang contested under a Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) ticket for the Parliamentary seat of Pengerang in Johor but lost to former Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Seri Azalina Othman Said.
