#Showbiz: I married for love not material gain, says A. Aida's new hubby

KUALA LUMPUR: Producer Datuk A. Aida made headlines last Saturday when she tied the knot with upcoming actor Ariff Aziz who is 18 years her junior.

Although many were happy for her newfound joy, there were also those who saw the union as a way for the hunky actor to easily acquire wealth from his well-established 47-year-old wife.

Ariff, 29, brushed aside the negative comments and emphasised that the marriage was based on his love for Aida and not due to any material or financial gains.

In a news report, Ariff said: “Aside from acting I also run my own business. I own my own car and house as well, which I bought through my own hard work. So the issue of me marrying for wealth, status or position is an accusation that has no basis whatsoever and is from those who don’t know who I really am.”

The actor added that he never expected that his professional work with her would blossom into full-blown love.

“Honestly, after three years of knowing her, my wife is someone who is truly beautiful on the outside as well as on the inside. That trait is what attracted me to her,” he said.

Aida, who had been married three times before, has three children, Wan Az Aleesa, 22, Wan Azevanatassha, 17 and Muhammad Rahul, 10, from two of her previous marriages.
