#Showbiz: Hairul Azreen's harrowing encounter with a king cobra leaves him shaken

KUALA LUMPUR: Actor Hairul Azreen is counting his lucky stars after he managed to move quick enough before a king cobra could strike him.

The heart-thumping incident took place recently at an R&R station in Bukit Jelutong, Shah Alam where Hairul and a friend stopped to take a break from cycling.

“We were waiting for another friend to arrive when I decided to lie down on the ground.

“Then my friend alerted me that there was a cobra between my legs.”

Hairul initially froze a little before deciding to bolt as fast as he could.

“That incident scared the life out of me. In my mind, I was thinking what would have happened if I’d been bitten by the king cobra,” he told reporters at the Paskal press conference at GSC Signatures at The Gardens in Midvalley.

Paskal which will be screened in cinemas on Sept 27, highlights the story of the Royal Malaysian Navy special forces team.

Taken from a real life story, the film portrays the success of the elite forces while on a United Nations peacekeeping mission in Angola in 1998.

Directed by Adrain Tan, the film also stars Datuk Eizlan Yusof, Taufiq Hanafi, Gambit Saifullah.
