KUALA LUMPUR: Scorching red hot K-Pop band BTS has set yet another record, this time for becoming the first South Korean group to have a music video which garners over 500 million views on YouTube.
According to Soompi, the music video for its popular hit song DNA reached the milestone mark after a year and one day.
The only other Korean artiste with music videos that have surpassed the half a billion views mark is Psy. The flamboyant solo artiste achieved the feat with Gangnam Style, which currently has over 3.2 billion views, Gentleman, with more than 1.2 billion views and Oppa Is Just My Style (featuring HyunA) with over 726 million views.
DNA, which is the title track for their mini album Love Yourself: Her, also earned the hugely popular music group its first entry on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
It received a gold certification by the Recording Industry Association of America and won the Music Video Award at the 2017 Melon Music Awards as well.
Aside from DNA, the subsequent music videos by South Korean groups with the highest views are BTS’ Fire with over 417 million views and Twice’s TT with over 400 million views.
