KUALA LUMPUR: Award-winning child star Puteri Balqis Azizi has finally revealed the details of her battle with the Big C.
The 11-year-old said she was suffering from early-stage liver cancer, but was on the mend thanks to early treatment at hospitals and clinics.
“Yes, I have the Big C but it’s something I can fight with treatment. At first I coughed and vomited blood, and breathing caused me pain, too,” she said in a news report yesterday.
“I know I can win. Thank you, friends, and keep praying for me.”
Balqis’ fellow celebrity friends recently helped raise funds for her treatment by having a busking session at Rasta Restaurant in Taman Tun Dr Ismail, and they included Noh Salleh of Hujan and actress Sharifah Sakinah.
In July, Puteri Balqis’ mother Norashikin Mohd Aziz revealed that her daughter had cancer.
But despite fighting the serious illness, Balqis appeared to be in good spirits and regularly posted updates on her Instagram.
Balqis bagged the Best Actress Award at the 19th Asian Television Awards in 2014.
